Yoga for Immunity

The focus we bring to conscious breath throughout our Yoga practice is integral to our energy, health and immunity. The breathwork ( Pranaymama ) we do at the beginning of class is an endlessly incredible practice to weave into your day.

Through deep breathing we help lower stress hormones that compromise the immune system, we condition the lungs and respiratory tract, stimulatethe lymphatic system to remove toxins from the body, and bring oxygenated blood to the cells, tissues, organs of the body - ensuring their optimal function.

Since both colds and flu attack the bronchial passages, it makes sense that conditioning and maximising the breathing capacity of our lungs through our breath practices will help build resistance to viruses and the like.

Relaxation and stress reduction have actually been linked to a stronger immune system and it's becoming more evident that when in a stressed state our immune response is compromised, and we are more susceptible to illness.
